Calling all Singaporeans, we want to hear from you. What is the state of your Singaporean nation?
On 28 August, New Naratif will be hosting the Singapore People’s National Day Rally. It’s a celebration of the people of Singapore and an opportunity to reflect.
A dozen Singaporeans will speak or perform for 5 minutes each. The performances will reflect their lives and the lives of their community in the past year, the state of their “nation” and their hopes and ideas for the future. They come from diverse backgrounds: ethnic, class, gender, sexuality, age, neurodivergent minorities, non-citizens, and citizens who don’t live in Singapore.
They are all part of the Singaporean nation.
The live stream will happen on Saturday, 28 August at 8 p.m. GMT+8 on New Naratif’s YouTube channel and Facebook. Singapore’s Prime Minister will have the opportunity to respond at his National Day Rally speech on 29 August.
