New Naratif 101: The Contours of Human Displacement in Malaysia

11 July 2023 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Virtual Event Virtual Event
Free – $5

Have you ever wondered who a refugee, a migrant worker, a stateless person, a human trafficking survivor, and an internally displaced person is? What overlapping or contrasting human displacement realities do they come from? What forces shape their lives in Malaysia, and conversely, what forces do they bring to the worlds we presently share?

In conjunction with World Refugee Day, we invite you to join us in our inaugural New Naratif 101 event to ponder on these simple yet complex questions. We hope that together we can carve out a space to learn about the basic contours of human displacement and to meditate on the layered lived experiences, realities, and contributions of those compelled to move.

We invite anyone new to the topic to join and learn with us— anyone who is curious to learn, ask questions, and develop their consciousness around these issues. We also invite experts, academics, and practitioners  involved in these issues, especially those with lived experiences of displacement, to chime in on discussions, provide your thoughts, and help us create and curate  spaces to learn. Understanding is the first step to building communities that transcend borders and we hope you’ll join us!
